Wednesday 1st February 2012 The Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening, has announced today that there will be no relaxing of the laws governing the date of first testing and frequency of testing. This is good news for UK MOT Test Stations, who should not see a drop off in volumes of vehicles presented for MOT annually. More importantly, the UK’s roads will be safer as all the data available showed that reducing test frequency would impact negatively on vehicle condition, and in turn lead to more accidents. “Actia Muller is pleased the government has put 4-2-2 back in its box again,” explains Simon Stone, General Manager of Actia Muller UK. “It was destined to put even more pressure on the garage industry which is already suffering in the current economic climate. We hope that garages will now have the confidence to maintain their equipment and even invest in the future – a future which looks more secure now as a result of today’s announcement.” The full Ministerial Statement can be viewed at: www.dft.gov.uk/news/statements/greening-20120201/. |
